The short answer
CBD, CBN and CBG are all cannabinoids, natural compounds found in hemp. CBD is the most common and best studied. CBN is often paired with CBD in evening and sleep-support formulas, and CBG in daytime and focus formulas. None of the three causes a high.
What are cannabinoids?
Cannabinoids are a family of compounds the hemp plant produces. Scientists have identified more than 100 of them. They interact with the body's endocannabinoid system, a network involved in keeping many everyday functions in balance.
CBD and THC are the best known. But smaller "minor" cannabinoids like CBN and CBG are getting more attention, and more products now combine them with CBD.
What is CBG?
CBG (cannabigerol) is often called the "mother cannabinoid." Its acidic form, CBGA, is the starting material the plant uses to make CBD, THC and others. Because most of it gets converted, mature hemp contains only small amounts of CBG.
CBG doesn't cause a high. It's commonly included in daytime blends, such as CBD+CBG Focus Support, designed to support a clear, balanced day.

CBN (cannabinol) forms naturally as THC ages and is exposed to air and light. It was one of the first cannabinoids scientists identified.
CBN is not intoxicating at the levels used in wellness products. It's most often found in evening formulas, such as CBD+CBN Calm Support and Sleep Support Gummies, made to help you unwind at night.
How do they compare?
| CBD | CBG | CBN | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Full name | Cannabidiol | Cannabigerol | Cannabinol |
| Where it comes from | The most abundant cannabinoid in hemp | The precursor to other cannabinoids | Forms as THC ages |
| Causes a high? | No | No | No, at wellness-product levels |
| Often used in | Daily wellness routines | Daytime and focus blends | Evening and sleep-support blends |
Why combine cannabinoids?
Many people believe cannabinoids work better together than alone, an idea often called the "entourage effect." Research on it is still early. In practice, blends let you match a product to a time of day: CBG for daytime, CBN for evening, and CBD as the base for both.
Which one is right for you?
It depends on when you'll use it and what you'd like it to support. Someone who wants help winding down might start with a CBD+CBN blend, while someone focused on daytime balance might prefer CBD+CBG. Many people use one in the morning and another at night.
Frequently asked questions
Is CBN the same as THC?
No. CBN forms from THC as it ages, but it's a different compound and isn't intoxicating at wellness-product levels.
Can I take CBG and CBN together?
Many people use CBG in the day and CBN at night. Ask your guide how to plan a routine with both.
Are CBN and CBG legal?
Hemp-derived cannabinoids are subject to federal and state rules that are changing. Ask us about current rules for your state.
